Back Just In Time for the Fall

Hi dOlls + guys,

Guess who is back after a few months of being MIA? It's me, Your Go-to-Gal, and I'm feeling more fab than ever (minus the little part, where I'm like 10 okay more like 15 LBS heavier!)

I do want to apologize for my absence, and although there is no excuse, because as a blogger and writer, I do understand the need for new material in a timely manner, but I've had my reasons, which I will share because-- heck, I'm sharing just about every thing else.

First thing's first, I finally got a new job, I'm no longer a Nordie (though I do miss that 20 % discount and the good friends I made there.) You are now looking at the newest editorial coordinator at a Miami-based Hispanic publication. While I'm in the "media field," and I am ecstatic about that, trust me when I say the title sounds so much more glamorous than what it really is, but I love like it and I'm good at it.

To catch you up a little, on my personal life: I'm going to be an aunt come February! (still have no clue what the little thing is but my sis and I have nicknamed it jelly bean for the meanwhile, and I cant wait to find out what it is. )I'll keep you posted, as soon as I get the lo-down on the sex. The man-friend (let's face it, he's not a boy and I'm not a girl, though we both still look like 20) and I just celebrated three years of dating, which speaks in HIGH volume! Ladies and gent, dating doesn't get any easier with time, it just gets harder, especially when you're living together. So we really celebrated the fact that three years later, we're still both alive and have not suffered any battle wounds. Lastly, I have acquired the most amazing MJ, yes girls, MJ not Marc by MJ, handbag and well let's just say I am so in love with it! I haven't stopped smiling, since I got it.
Now that we are all caught up...

Fall is officially here!!!!! I couldn't be any more friggin' excited. This is my favorite time of the year, which is sort of ridiculous because living in South Florida, I don't even get to see seasonal changes (at least the weather cools down by a whole 3 degrees,) but nonetheless, fall is all about fashion, which also happens to be one my favorite things. I have been very busy researching trends and window shopping for the perfect must-have items and below is my little list of trends.

The "military/utilitarian" trend: I remember the camouflage fad I went through when I was 14 (::still cringing::  but you learn from your mistakes.) The new take on this look however, is sophisticated and chic and nothing like the pairs of camouflage bell bottoms I used to rock. So whether you decide to buy a military-inspired jacket or a pair of combat boots, or you simply honor the trend by wearing olive green or brown tones, you can rest assure you will be looking sharp!

Animal prints: This is simply just one of my all-time favorite looks that never goes out of style (my personal opinion anyways.) But, I also know it's one of those things that can look trashy or classy, but it really depends on how a woman makes it work. However this season, is the year of the animal print accessories, so pick up that statement handbag in leopard or just go for the perfect pair of heels. The best part about animal prints is that you can wear it day or night! Girls, let your inner wild animal out!

Long's in-- short's out: Sorry to all my Miami girls, but super short, micro minis are a thing of the past (though something tells me girls in the magic city will not mind any attention to this particular trend.) Instead of short skirts or dresses, this season you will see hems hit anywhere between the shin to your actual feet. I particularly like this trend just because it's something different and you can rock it with high heels or flats.

The 50s-something trend: I believe this trend came about thanks to AMC's Mad Men, and I've seen previews of  the new Banana Republic line and I'm very impressed.  Honestly, the 50s were such a great era for music and fashion and I cannot wait to rock a full skirt with a cardigan sweater.

Furs (Real or Faux)- Girls get your fur on! And I know real fur, can be a little expensive and a little cruel, so thank heavens for the collection of faux furs available at Express at very reasonable prices. And remember you're dressing for fashion and style not for the weather, so even if you live in a permanent state of sauna, like I do, you can still rock these looks!

Please let me know what items you have or will be purchasing because I  would love to hear from you!

Until next post ::huggsies::
