Fall Spotlight: Pedi and Platforms

Last night I got my first official fall color mani and pedi of the season and I couldn't wait any longer to share pictures of it with you!

I was originally planning on having Chanel's Peridot, as my first color, but Laura, my eyebrow and beauty guru refused to let me pay $25 for a nail polish. (Thank you Laura because honestly, I don't think that I could've justified spending that much money on a nail polish to anyone, not even myself and I don't often get sticker shock!)

So in an attempt to be more frugal, I spotted Wallis, an olive greenish color with hints of gold and shimmer from Butter London, a brand I've been dying to try out because the colors are always beautiful and rich.

One of the things I like most about this color is that it's very true to its pallet from the bottle to your nails.

And because I was wearing my new fierce heels, I thought I'd take some cute fun pix showing off my new pedicure and Steve Madden platforms.

Barton G: Still The Perfect Date Spot

This past weekend I, along with my boyfriend, celebrated our four year anniversary!

This anniversary in particular was very special for two reasons: (1) this is officially the longest relationship I've been in and (2) this is the only person I've lived with besides the parentals. And living together with a person can be challenging, and take a strain on any relationship, so making it to four years was a great cause for celebration.

He surprised me with flowers and a card. I was probably more touched by the card because my boyfriend isn't the card giving type. He also bought me a few key fall pieces, which I needed incorporated into my wardrobe.

One of the things on the long list of why I love my boyfriend so much is that he never disappoints me when it comes to gifts or surprises. It's been four years and he still spoils me!

And yes fellas, if you want to keep your ladies happy, you spoil them!

He also made dinner reservations at one of my favorite restaurants, Barton G in Miami Beach.

I was first introduced to Barton G in 2004 by a dear friend of mine at the time, and I was totally blown away by its location, dazzling decor, flashy food presentations and the fact that the food is simply amazing. The service isn't too shabby either, though there's always room for improvement.

Out of all the upscale restaurants that I've eaten at during the past 8 years, Barton G remains my top choice and destination to celebrate special occasions.

Barton G just finished revamping its decor, and as of this Thursday will also roll out a new menu.

These red orchid curtains are probably one of the more noticeable changes. And with the dim lights, at night it looks even more beautiful.

Because of my severe food allergies, my choices for food are limited, so we started off our night with the chicken cordon blue bites as an appetizer.

We both decided on  the filet mignon for the entree.

Filet Mignon

My mom loves to collect cows (not real ones, although I'm sure she would if she could) and she would've probably asked me to have taken the cow gravy bowl with me, which reminds me to never take her to this place.

When we were done with our scrumptious steaks, we moved on to dessert.

The downside of ordering dessert was the 20 minute wait to get our hands on the actual dessert menu, which we couldn't understand until the menu was finally brought to us.

Another noticeable change: the dessert menu is now digitized on iphones.

Super cool!

After going back and forth through the nine choices, (we then figured out why it took so long to get the dessert menu) we went with the Kiss Kiss, a chocolate cake shaped as a gigantic Hershey's kiss and the perfect dessert to embody our celebration.

Kiss Kiss

I literally took two bites and was done. It was so big, we decided to take it home because we ate so little of it. I now have 3 boxes of leftover cake in my fridge.

Once again, Barton G was an  amazing experience and my boyfriend and I had a wonderful time. We  walked out feeling happy and very much in love.

If you've never been to Barton G:
  • You must try one of their signature nitrogen drinks.
  • Don't be shy! People will always strike up conversations with you about what your food because it's like nothing they've ever seen before. (This is also a reason why this restaurant is one of my favorites.)
  • Enjoy because it's an experience unlike any other restaurant experience you've ever had.

Until next time.

Bon appetit!

Fall 2011 Trend Report: Awesome Accessories

Welcome back ladies!

It's my absolute favorite time of the year again, fall!

And that means I'll be bringing you all the latest trends in fashion, cuisine and places to check out in Miami.

Last week I brought you the hottest nail polish colors worn on the runways, so you can rock them on the streets.

And today I'm bringing you the must have accessories of the season, along with some styling tips on how to make these items work for you.

And remember fashionistas: The idea behind trends are to accent your wardrobe staples with a dash of  them.

Wear with caution and don't over do it by fitting too many trends into a single outfit.

The fall and winter months make up half a year, so you have plenty of times to wear everything you've purchased.

The It Bags:

Mini Bags.

Tip: Mini bags offer to hold your essentials and not much else, since they're so small. Use them for a day of shopping when your hands will be filled with shopping bags or for a night out on the town!

Shoulder Bags.

Tip: Shoulder bags seem like a blast from the past and they are, but they're also making a huge comeback this season.

Buy a shoulder bag in animal print like the one above for a modern twist on this classic look.

A pair of sexy red pumps will complement this bag exquisitely.

Structured Satchels.
Tip: Structured satchels are ideal for the workplace because they're one of the few accessories that allow you to inject chic into your otherwise conservative attire.
Wear with skinny jeans and riding boots for a casual everyday look.

Snakeskin Satchels.

Snakeskin is oh so hot right now! This satchel is great for day or night and goes with just about anything you currently own.

Tip: Polish a minimalist look with a snakeskin bag.

Colorful Clutches.

Tip: Usually fall fashion is about dark or neutral colors and patterns, but this fall we are seeing a lot of color, a trend that transitioned from the spring.

If you still prefer to wear less vibrant colors during the fall a colorful clutch is a splendid way to jazz up your wardrobe.

Belts:

Animal Print Belts.
Tip: Animal print belts are a great finishing touch to any outfit.

Skinny Cinchers.

Tip: Skinny cinchers like the one above with a small bow give you the perfect touch of elegance and fun.

Boots:

Wedge boots.

Tip: Pair wedge boots with a chiffon dress for a modern take on a 70s look.

Chunky Heel Boots.

Tip: Pair a 60s inspired dress with high boots for the ultimate mod look.

Thigh High Boots are always sexy and in style.

Riding Boots.

Tip: Wear with dark denim or leggings for slimmer looking legs. This is also a great tip to remember when wearing any flat shoe.

Hats & Gloves:

Cashmere Beanies.

Feathered Fedoras.

Yes, feathers are still going strong!

Cashmere Gloves.

Leather Gloves.

Jewelry:

Bling Rings.

Cocktail Rings.

Chain Bracelets.

Cutting Edge Cuffs.

Cool Collars.

Drop Earrings

Printed Tights:

Polka Dot Tights

Leopard Print Tights.

Tip: Printed tights go great under dresses and skirts during cold weathers to keep you from freezing but also add pizazz to any outfit.

Don't forget nude tights have made a major comeback and are so major right now.

Thank the Middleton sisters for that!

Scarves:

Faux Fur Mufflers.

Tip: Fur is a huge trend this season and it's all about being luxe when it comes to fur!

My PSA for the day is ditch the real furs and be kind to our furry friends and go for faux mufflers, vests and coats!

Black and White Scarves.

Animal Print Scarves.

Colorful Scarves.

Shoes:

Bold Color Ballet Flats.

Flat Loafers.

Tip: Pair flat loafers with tailored coats for a sophisticated look.
Menswear Inspired Loafers.

Snakeskin Pumps.

Pointy Pumps.

Tip: If you want to mix things up, combine a pair of tight leahter pants and a sculpted jacket for a rock n' roll look.

Jewel Tone Heels.

Tip: Keep the rest of your outfit to a minimum when you wear bright jewel tone shoes, so that the shoes can be the star of the outfit.

Sparkly Shoes.

Tip: Mix colors and textures when wearing a pair of metallic shoes.

Umbrellas:

Colorful Animal Print Umbrellas.

Bubble Umbrellas.

Umbrellas made it onto an accessory list?

Totes yes!

Umbrellas are another accessory for us to express our fashion sense and styles by making a statement.

I'm so loving bubble umbrellas right now!

Other trends to accessorize with during the fall season:

  • black and white <3
  • deep reds and burgundys
  • gray
  • green
  • jewel tones
  • anything that sparkles!

Ladies, join me next week when I will reveal the holy grail of the trend reports the wardrobe list!!!!

Are you super excited?

Fellas, I will also reveal my men's guide to fall fashion.

Fall fashionably yours,

GTG

Fall 2011 Trend Report: Hottest Hues for Nails

The 2011 fall season is almost here!

And that means it's time to put away our halter tops and short shorts and it's time to don on our coats and boots!

It'll be a few more months in Miami before we can slip into our boots and cold armor, but we can definitely start celebrating the weather by changing the hues of our polishes.

So put away the fun bright colors and opt for darker rich colors.

As you already know, lacquers are an important fashion accessory just like shoes and handbags. They're also a statement staple are used as the first transitional item between seasons.

The following colors have been all over the fashion runways and will be seen on the streets!

Trend # 1: Jewel tone colors

Greens:

Hunter greens. Olive greens. Grassy greens. Any kind of green really.

This hue is Peridot and it's from Chanel.  It's not only my favorite green, but it's actually my favorite color of the season.

Blues:

Royal blues. Sky blues.

My favorite blue?  Dior's blue denim. I love the richness of it and because it's a Dior color I know it will have a smooth finish.

Reds:

Deep wines. Bright reds. Red is the color of confidence and nothing says "I'm a confident woman,"  like this red by Lancome.

Bang Bang Red

Purples.

Deep purples. Indigo purples. Plums.

I love this berry inspired shade Celine by Zoya. Ultra feminine and the color looks great on any skin tone.

Trend # 2: Rusts and Browns

Rusts:

Oranges. Burnt browns.

Very structured by Essie reinvents the browns we have seen in the past by infusing an orange undertone into the color. This color embodies the essence of fall.

Browns:

Chocolate browns. Classic browns.

Chocolate by Dolce & Gabbana is a decadent color that can get you through the entire fall and winter seasons.

Trend # 3: Grays and Metallics

My favorite gray for this season is Essie's Power Clutch from their handbag inspired collection.

This is the kind of color that makes you want to find a matching pair of shoes and handbag to go with it, which I'm sure is what Essie set out to capture.

Metallics/Sparkles:

This year Serena Williams teamed up with polish giant OPI and created the Glam Slam collection.
I love this metallic color.

Your Royal Shine-ness

Trend # 4: Magnetic

Last year we saw the inception of crackle nails, which I personally wasn't a fan of. This year there's a lot of buzz surrounding the magnetic look, which has been popularized by LCN.

Beauty insiders have said the magnetic look is this year's more polished version of the crackle look.

It basically utilizes their trademark magnetic polishes along with 2 magnets that each create an effect, be it diagonal lines or stars.

I love the psychedelic look .

Below is a video that you can find onbthe LCN site that shows you how can achieve this look.

Trend # 5: Neutrals/Beiges:

Neutral colors are classics and will always be in fashion, which is why they aren't really a trend. But you will still see a lot of it during the cold months ahead.

My pick?

Essie's Allure. Yes, that's the same color that Kate Middleton wore on her wedding day, so it's a very special color.

Ladies what colors will you be wearing this fall?
